Lunar Mythologies

Read full moon blog posts here.

Lunar Mythologies is a series of workshops and gatherings for the observation of the Full Moon. Each moon is studied, celebrated, performed, and finally, documented in a full color magazine published each month.

Cold Full Moon Gathering

Beaver Full Moon Gathering

The next full Beaver moon in Taurus will occur on November 12th at 8:34 AM ET. It is also known as the Frost Moon or Mourning Moon. The moon rules over your emotional inner world and governs your shadow self. When the moon and the sun form an opposition, it’s hard to hide the truth.

There may still be something from your past that must be dealt with. However, it’s all informing you of what your future could look like. In other words:

Karma is experience, and experience creates memory, and memory creates imagination and desire, and desire creates karma again. If I buy a cup of coffee, that’s karma. I now have that memory that might give me the potential desire for having cappuccino, and I walk into Starbucks, and there’s karma all over again.

Karma, when properly understood, is just the mechanics through which consciousness manifests.

Our gathering will fall on the Sunday (June 16th) prior to the peak of the full moon in order to prepare for it’s arrival, while entering the potent energy the full moon brings.

Gathering in the spirit of the Strawberry Full Moon, we’ll exercise our intuitive capacities and co-create the next chapter of Lunar Mythologies. This gathering, designed as part of a monthly series, will heighten intuitive awareness and create clarity by collectively aligning our focus with the cycle of the moon and with the Strawberry Moon’s unique symbolism. In bypassing daily modes of thought and communication, we will find renewed sources of connection, creativity, and insight.

This particular Milk Moon falls in the sign of Scorpio – in this sign, we move from the decision making sign of Libra into discipleship, or self-disciplined action. This theme has special resonance with our practice: a series of exercises based on guided meditations, repetitive actions, and process-based material strategies. The practices begin with an internal focus and move toward outward awareness and focused communal attention. The nature of practice itself aligns with the theme of discipline and committed action.

Through the exercises in the workshop, we will produce texts and images. These will be collected and published as a monthly manual. (Wolf Moon 2019Snow Moon 2019,Worm Moon 2019, Pink Moon 2019) Each manual will contain within it the instructions for future manuals as well as all of the texts and images produced in this workshop. Each manual will also form part of an aggregate manual, the ongoing and collaborative Lunar Mythologies. This work will be published periodically by Female Background, digitally, in print, or both.
